How to join the Association of Clinical Professors of Medicine

Membership of this UK medical research group provides recognition of your long-term contribution to medical research.  Individuals may apply for membership of the Association of Clinical Professors of Medicine as a Fellow, if they satisfy the following objective criteria:

1.  Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine

If you have an M.D. or D.M. higher degree from a university in the UK, and you have published 150 (one hundred and fifty) or more basic science or clinical research papers, review articles and conference papers (published abstracts) in respected, peer-reviewed scientific journals, you can apply to join the ACPMed as an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine, referred to as ‘Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine (ACPMed)’.  Credit will also be given for authorship of medical books and book chapters.

2.  Full Clinical Professor of Medicine

If you have an M.D. or D.M. higher degree from a university in the UK, and you have published 200 (two hundred) or more basic science or clinical research papers, review articles and conference papers (published abstracts) in respected, peer-reviewed scientific journals, you can apply to join the ACPMed as a Full Clinical Professor of Medicine, referred to as ‘Clinical Professor of Medicine (ACPMed)’.  Credit will also be given for authorship of medical books and book chapters.

You will be required to provide evidence of your M.D. or D.M. degree, including examiner details and the year the higher degree was accepted by a UK university, plus an up-to-date full CV in PDF format, with evidence of your publications as documented on ResearchGate.

Clinicians who have completed a clinically relevant Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D. or D.Phil.) at a UK university can also apply for membership of the Association of Clinical Professors of Medicine, if they have a similar publication record to the above criteria.  However, the ACPMed is an association for those NHS clinicians who decided to dedicate most of their time directly to the care of their patients.
